The Berkshire Athenaeum is partnering with Berkshire Medical Center’s state clinic to offer free, confidential health screenings on a walk-in basis beginning Monday, July 10.
The health screenings will be held 10 a.m. through noon, and continue every second Monday of each month. Clinic staff will perform testing for sexually transmitted diseases, HIV, and Hepatitis C on the library’s balcony level in the Athenaeum Room. All testing is confidential and notifications and follow-up services will be provided by clinic staff.
“This is a logical extension of our hosting a number of wellness programs these last few years, which have included blood pressure screening, yoga, and installments of the Mayor’s Fitness initiative,” said Outreach Librarian Alex Geller. “As everyone knows, a big part of taking care of our health is simply having good information – we can’t address a health concern we don't know exists and providing information is and always has been the Athenaeum’s stock-in-trade.”
The Berkshire Athenaeum is Pittsfield’s public library. For more information, please contact Geller at 413-499-9480.
