Dedication of Engine 6 - "Poly's Pride"

In a ceremony packed with family and friends at Pittsfield Fire Department headquarters, Engine 6 was officially dedicated and renamed “Poly’s Pride” in honor of retired Deputy Chief Michael Polidoro on Monday, Feb. 11. Deputy Chief Polidoro retired two years ago due to ALS.
Fire Chief Robert Czerwinski opened the ceremony, and was followed by Father Peter Gregory who offered a prayer and blessing. Mayor Linda Tyer thanked Polidoro for his years of service to the City of Pittsfield and provided him with a proclamation. “He represents the very best of Pittsfield. It’s a perfect tribute to someone who given so much to our community,” the mayor said.
The naming of the 2016 Seagrave pumper in Polidoro’s honor is especially fitting because he spearheaded the effort to obtain the vehicle for the department, making it one of his last projects before retirement.
Polidoro started as a firefighter in 1988 and continued to rise through ranks. His career has included many notable highlights including being deployed to the World Trade Center for the 9/11 recovery operations and to various large-scale disasters across the country including Hurricane Katrina.
Chief Czerwinski honored Polidoro for his deep commitment to the department and the many contributions that he’s made over the years. “There will never be anyone like him,” Czerwinski said
