The City of Pittsfield’s Personnel Department will host its 2nd annual open house and career fair on Tuesday, Oct. 3.
The event will provide information on current and future positions within the city, recruitment procedures for police officers and firefighters, insight on licenses required for specific roles, and ways to obtain required certification. It will also feature Berkshire Community College, BerkshireWorks, and career counselors from Project ReConnect will be providing on-the-spot resume and cover letter assessments.
The department held its first open house in June 2016, which attracted hundreds of visitors to City Hall. The goal is part of Personnel’s long-term strategy to enhance outreach and transparency toward recruitment for city employment.
Personnel Director Michael Taylor said he looked forward to the continued engagement with community members.
“After last year’s success, we felt it was important to host this event again in efforts to continue networking with the community and available workforce,” Taylor said. “It’s a wonderful opportunity to meet with job seekers, foster their connections with city employees, learn about current and future job opportunities, receive an overview of special licensing and certifications needed for the city’s technical jobs, and much more.”
