Starting Monday, April 25 through Friday, April 29, Streetscape contractor, Maxymillian, will begin sidewalk excavation and conduit work between Bradford and Linden streets. Construction work will begin at 7 a.m.
Pedestrian traffic will be guided along the storefronts utilizing a construction guardrail safety system and gravel sidewalks. Parking and vehicle traffic may be affected by this work. Southbound traffic will be limited to one lane during the day.
Work on the installation of a new granite seat wall on the north corner of Union Street is also scheduled to begin. Minimal disruptions to pedestrian and vehicular traffic will be caused by this work.
Early in the week Maxymillian will be installing new conduit for a new load center in front of Paul Rich & Sons Home Furnishing and the YMCA. This work will take place in the sidewalk.
The curbing and sidewalk subcontractor, Varandas Construction, will continue working on installing new sidewalks between Summer and Union streets. New curbing will be installed from Union to Bradford streets. Parking and pedestrian traffic may be disrupted by this work but access to storefronts will be maintained.
Berkshire Gas and JS Rae will continue installing a new gas main on the east side of North Street from Maplewood Avenue working south in the northbound lanes. Vehicular traffic will be down to one lane on the northbound side in this area.
Vehicular traffic will be guided with signs, cones, and drums allowing traffic to travel safely in the downtown area.
