Interested in the history of the Pittsfield parks system?

Thanks to a generous grant of funds from the city’s Community Preservation Committee, staff from the Berkshire Athenaeum’s Local History Room were able to digitize and make publicly available 62 parks scrapbooks dating back to 1943.

Visit https://www.pittsfieldlibrary.org/ and under Library News, click on "Pittsfield, MA Parks Department Scrapbooks Collection" to access them all.

Safety Rules and Guidelines for clean-ups in parks/open spaces were adopted by the Parks Commission at their meeting held on November 16, 2021.

Please note: Lead Organizers MUST contact the Public Health Nurse Manager during the special event permitting process for information related to safety protocols for all attendees. The event will not be permitted until this occurs.


The Recreation Program provides a variety of enjoyable, affordable events, programs and opportunities throughout the year for the Pittsfield community. It is also dedicated to being a resource in providing athletics information to community members for programs in the City.
