Human Services

Each year the City of Pittsfield solicits applications for funding to provide human services to benefit Pittsfield residents.    

The Human Services Advisory Council (HSAC), an 11 member volunteer committee, which reviews the proposals and submits its recommendations to the mayor.  The consumers assisted with those funds ranged from infants to the elderly and covered a variety of human service needs.

Funding is based on the fiscal year, running July 1 to June 30. A Request for Proposals is released in November of each year with the RFP due the first week of January. Applications can be obtained during this time frame at the Pittsfield Dept. of Community Development at Pittsfield City Hall or by email request to the RFP has been released. The Department of Community Development will be holding three bidder’s conferences to assist applicants with the application process. All meetings will be held in City Hall. Applicants are strongly encouraged to attend one of these three conferences.

In addition to submitting a written proposal, applicants will be invited to come before the HSAC to make a presentation in February that will be televised locally.
