Birth, Marriage & Death Certificates

The Office of the City Clerk maintains the records of Birth, Marriage and Death. 

            Birth Certificate

The Pittsfield City Clerk issues certified copies of the records of birth of those people born within the city limits of Pittsfield, MA.  We have a NO REFUND policy.  A request for a record should only be made if you know that the City of Pittsfield has the record/or have confirmed with the City Clerk's office that the record exists in Pittsfield.  You may contact the City Clerk's office by email at mcarlotto@cityofpittsfield.org or call (413) 499-9361.  The City Clerk's Office is open weekdays from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM. 

You may obtain a copy of your birth certificate by any of the following methods:

  1. In person at the City Clerk’s Office, 70 Allen Street, Room 103, Pittsfield, MA 01201
  2. By mailing a completed Certificate Application, check or money order for $10.00 per copy requested and a stamped, self-addressed, business-sized envelope to the City Clerk’s Office, 70 Allen Street, Room 103, Pittsfield, MA 01201.
  3. Online via our Online Payment Center.  There is a small fee to pay directly from your checking account.  A convenience fee will be charged for credit card payments.  Please note:  We are unable to accomodate international requests on-line.  Requests made from outside of the U.S. must be submitted via mail with U. S. funds and shall include a self-addressed, stamped envelope.  If you have any questions, please contact our office.

Public Record Disclosure:  Except for birth records that are restricted by law, birth certificates are a public record in Massachusetts.

Marriage Certificate

The Pittsfield City Clerk issues certified copies of the records of marriage for marriages that were licensed in Pittsfield, MA.  We have a NO REFUND policy.  A request for a record should only be made if you know that the City of Pittsfield has the record/or have confirmed with the City Clerk's office that the record exists in Pittsfield.  You may contact the City Clerk's office  by email at mcarlotto@cityofpittsfield.org or call (413) 499-9361.  The City Clerk's Office is open weekdays from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM.

 Death Certificate

The Pittsfield City Clerk issues certified copies of the records of death of any person whose death occurred within the city limits of Pittsfield, MA and for any Pittsfield resident who passed away in any other Massachusetts communityWe have a NO REFUND policy.  A request for a record should only be made if you know that the City of Pittsfield has the record/or have confirmed with the City Clerk's office that the record exists in Pittsfield.  You may contact the City Clerk's office by email at mcarlotto@cityofpittsfield.org or call (413) 499-9361.  The City Clerk's Office is open weekdays from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM.
