For the week of Oct. 3, Streetscape contractor Maxymillian will have crews working on completing the remaining work within the islands in the roadway. This work includes filling planters with loam and finishing any remaining brick.
Construction work will start at 7 a.m.
Also, they will be installing the new and larger wayfinding poles and signs throughout the week. The crews will begin cleaning up and demobilizing from the staging areas which include the Polish Community Club and the Mobil station.
Lapinski Electric expects to have the new traffic signals turned on by the end of the week. Maxymillian will then remove the existing traffic signals and bases.
Sidewalk subcontractor, Varandas, may be on site late in the week to restore sidewalk in areas of the existing traffic signal bases (if the bases are removed by week’s end).
Markings Inc. is scheduled to perform line painting Wednesday and Thursday, approximately during the hours of 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Similar to prior paving operations, one half of the roadway and related side streets will be closed while work is being performed.
Eversource contractor, Burke Electric, will continue their work on replacing the vault roof on the corner of Bradford Street, in front of Methuselah’s windows. The sidewalk will be closed in this area, and excavation will be protected with barriers and fencing.
Interruptions are not expected to pedestrian traffic; vehicular traffic will be down to one lane in both directions.
Vehicles will be guided with signs, cones, and drums allowing traffic to travel safely in the downtown area.
