City of Pittsfield Receives $30,000 Grant from Massachusetts Historical Commission's Preservation Project Fund

Mayor Dan Bianchi is pleased to announce the City of Pittsfield has been awarded a $30,000 grant from the Massachusetts Historical Commission’s Preservation Project Fund to undertake a restoration study of the city-owned Springside House.  Using a combination of grant and city funds, the City will hire a qualified historic preservation professional to undertake a comprehensive investigation of the current condition of the house, develop a strategy for public input on options for adaptive re-use, and to prioritize plans for the needed rehabilitation of the structure for the agreed upon future use.  Springside House was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2008.  For more information, contact Jim McGrath, Park, Open Space, and Natural Resource Program Manager at 499-9344.
