For the week of July 4, Streetscape contractor, Maxymillian, will be grading sidewalks for the sidewalk subcontractor from Melville Street to Carson Place. Construction work will start at 7 a.m.
A second Maxymillian crew will also be installing small precast features, such as bollards and small traffic foundations, in the same area. On Tuesday, July 5, excavation of two pits in front of the Senior Center for new granite seat walls will begin.
Maxymillian will also resume sidewalk excavation work between Maplewood Ave and A-Mart and subsequently in front of the Greystone Building.
The curbing and sidewalk subcontractor, Varandas Construction, will continue installing granite curbing on the east side of North Street from Melville Street to Carson Place. Sidewalk restoration will take place from the YMCA to Melville Street. Parking and pedestrian traffic may be disrupted by this work but access to storefronts will be maintained.
Berkshire Gas, JS Rae, has completed their work on North Street.
Pedestrian traffic will be guided by pedestrian guardrails.
Vehicular traffic will be down to one lane in both directions. Parking in some areas will be affected by this work. Vehicles will be guided with signs, cones, and drums allowing traffic to travel safely in the downtown area.
