Streetscape Construction Update for Week of June 13

For the week of June 13, Streetscape contractor Maxymillian will be paving driveways on the Rite-Aid and Carr Hardware block.  Construction work will start at 7 a.m.

They will continue subgrading sidewalks for the curbing subcontractor on the west side of the street from Rite-Aid to Madison Avenue and then begin grading sidewalks on the east side of the street from Eagle Street to the driveway on the north side of Paul Rich and Sons. They will also continue prepping brick accent strips for the sidewalk contractor and installing loam in planters from Linden Street to Madison Avenue.

In the middle of the week Maxymillian crews will install conduits and street lights for the city parking lot next to the Greystone Building.  During this work parking spaces on the south side of the lot may be affected.

Maxymillian will be performing housekeeping through the project area in the middle of the week to prepare for Third Thursday.

The curbing and sidewalk subcontractor, Varandas Construction, will continue sidewalk restoration from Rite-Aid to Madison Avenue and begin installing new curbing and planters on the east side, starting near Eagle Street and working their way up to the Paul Rich and Sons driveway.  Parking and pedestrian traffic may be disrupted by this work but access to storefronts will be maintained.

Berkshire Gas and JS Rae will begin tying in services starting at Eagle Street and working north on the east side of North Street.  They will be causing disruptions to vehicular and pedestrian traffic during these service tie-ins.

Pedestrian traffic will be guided by pedestrian-specific guardrails.

Vehicular traffic will be down to one lane in both directions.  Parking in some areas will be affected by this work.  Vehicles will be guided with signs, cones, and drums allowing traffic to travel safely in the downtown area.
