The Armed Forces Day tribute ceremony will be held 11:30 a.m. Sunday, May 22 at the ITAM Lodge, 93 Waubeek Road in Pittsfield.
The ceremony is sponsored by the Council on Aging and the city’s Veterans’ Services Office. Veterans of all eras and their families are invited to attend. There is no cost for veterans; for all other attendees, a $5 donation is suggested. All donation proceeds will benefit the Berkshire County Veterans’ Food Pantry which distributes over 72, 000 pounds of food items to the local veteran community.
Opening remarks will be presented by Mayor Linda M. Tyer and the guest speaker will be retired Judge Rudolph A. Sacco. Military ceremonies will include the POW/MIA tribute, a rifle salute, and the playing of Taps.
A spaghetti and meatball buffet will be held noon to 2 p.m., and is sponsored by UNICO of Pittsfield. There will be musical entertainment and a free raffle of patriotic quilts, handmade by the women of the Froio Center.
