Streetscape Phase 4 Construction Update - Week of May 2

For the week of May 2, Streetscape contractor, Maxymillian, will continue conduit work between Bradford and Linden streets.  Construction work will start at 7 a.m.

Excavation work might begin late in the week between Linden Street and Rite Aid, 501 North St.  Pedestrian traffic will be guided along the storefronts utilizing a construction guardrail safety system and gravel sidewalks.  Parking and vehicle traffic may be affected by this work.  Southbound traffic will be limited to one lane during the day.

A second crew from Maxymillian will continue fine grading sidewalks from Hotel on North to Linden Street in order for the sidewalk subcontractor to install new sidewalks.

A third Maxymillian crew will begin prepping the brick accent strips for the sidewalk subcontractor from Columbus Avenue to Hotel on North.  This additional crew will also begin work on installing conduits and the new lighting load center in the sidewalk in front of the YMCA.

Lapinski Electric will begin work on Monday, May 2 installing the new mast arm foundations at the two major intersections (Union and Linden streets).  They will begin foundation work at the Hotel on North and move north from there.  They will also be installing the new gateway feature foundations near Bradford Street and St Joseph’s Church.

The curbing and sidewalk subcontractor, Varandas Construction, will continue working on installing new sidewalks between Hotel on North and Bradford Street.  New curbing will begin to be installed between Bradford and Linden streets.  Parking and pedestrian traffic may be disrupted by this work but access to storefronts will be maintained.

Berkshire Gas and JS Rae will continue installing a new gas main on the east side of North Street from St Joseph’s Church working south in the northbound lanes.  Vehicular traffic will be reduced to one lane on the northbound side in this area.

Vehicular traffic will be guided with signs, cones, and drums allowing traffic to travel safely in the downtown area.
