At the start of the week beginning Monday, April 11, Streetscape 4 contractor Maxymillian will continue sidewalk excavation and conduit work between Summer and Union streets. Construction work will start at 7 a.m.
Pedestrian traffic will be guided along the storefronts utilizing a construction guardrail safety system and gravel sidewalks. Granite seat wall work will also begin in front of K’s Merchandise located at 301 North St. A second crew will continue with the installation of precast features on the east sidewalks starting at the Ralph J. Froio Senior Center, 330 North St., working south to Paul Rich & Sons Home Furnishings, 242 North St.
A curbing and sidewalk subcontractor, Varandas Construction, will begin work on installing new curbing and sidewalks from Columbus Avenue to Summer Street. The guardrail system will also be utilized on this block. Parking in these areas will not be available during the day and overnight cars will need to be moved by 6 a.m. so not to disrupt work.
Southbound traffic will be down to one lane during the day and parking restriction will continue where marked. Vehicular traffic will be guided with signs, cones, and drums allowing traffic to travel safely in the downtown area.
