City of Pittsfield Welcomes Delegation from Sister City, Ballina, Ireland

On Monday, March 14th, Mayor Linda Tyer will welcome a delegation from Pittsfield’s Sister City, Ballina of County Mayo in Ireland with a public reception and ceremony at City Hall. The group’s visit to Pittsfield celebrates the partnership the two cities have formed through the Sister Cities International Program.

“We are so pleased to host members from our Irish Sister City, Ballina. This is one of our city’s many treasured relationships, and we want to ensure that this rich collaboration continues to thrive in the years ahead,” says Mayor Tyer.

The event, which is free and open to the public, will begin at 11 a.m. in the City Council Chambers.

The delegation is set to arrive Friday, March 11th.  Among the events planned during their stay, the guests and members of the Pittsfield Irish Sister City Committee and the Irish American Club will march in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Albany; attend the Irish American Club’s Annual St. Patrick’s Day Dinner/Dance at the Pittsfield’s Elk Club; and take in an Irish dance class at Terpsichore on North Street in Pittsfield.
