A new series of free, genealogy classes will be offered at the Berkshire Athenaeum each Tuesday in March. Classes will be held March 1, 8, 15, and 22.
Each class will run 10 a.m. to noon. The workshop, “Basic Hands-on Genealogy with Alan Doyle Horbal,” is sponsored by the Local History Department of the Berkshire Athenaeum and the Berkshire Family History Association.
Participants will learn how outline and instruction on researching the 1900, 1910, 1920, 1930 and 1940 U.S. Census. Website resources include the stevemorse.org, ellisisland.org, familysearch.org, along with other databases. The workshop also will explore England, Canada, Poland and other countries.
Registration begins Feb.1, and early registration is encouraged as sessions fill quickly. It is limited to 10 participants. Participants are asked to attend all four classes, bring their own laptop, or use a library one. All students must have an e-mail account and be computer literate.
