Benedict Road Water Storage Tank Project

The City of Pittsfield is installing a new water storage tank on Benedict Road at the same location of former tank which was demolished several years ago.  Site work for the construction of the new tank is scheduled to begin on June 10, 2013.  The purpose of the new tank is to improve water service to the City by increasing storage capacity within the water distribution system.

The new two million gallon water storage tank will be a cylindrical pre-stressed concrete tank, approximately 68 feet high and 75 feet in diameter.  Approximately 80 linear feet of 12 inch water main will be installed along Benedict Road to connect the new tank to the existing distribution system.

Construction of the tank is scheduled to be completed by November 30, 2013, with site restoration and landscaping completed by May 30, 2014, pending delays. There will be a scheduled work shutdown from July 18th through August 1st, 2013, for the Springside Park softball tournament on the adjacent park property.  Thru traffic on Benedict Road will be maintained throughout the duration of the project.  Brief interruptions to water service are anticipated but will be restricted to late evening time periods.
