The Michael Brown case has acted as a catalyst for discussion across our entire country. It is important that we are retrospective and honest and examine our own city and community.  My Office, along with Pittsfield Police Chief Michael Wynn and Shannon Grant Coordinator Adam Hinds, will be working with Executive Director Gwendolyn VanSant of Multicultural BRIDGE to take steps forward as a City and a County.

The International Association of Chiefs of Police has provided communities with resources in light of recent events. I have read through them and highly recommend them for consideration.

Chief Wynn stated, “The IACP, together with the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives and Police Executive Research Forum, have communicated to all of their member agencies, including the Pittsfield Police Department, the critical importance of open communication and cooperation with residents and community groups.  Working through the Mayor’s Office and the Pittsfield Community Connection, PPD will be exploring these resources and sharing them with our community.”
