History and Mission
The Pittsfield Council On Aging was created by the City Council in 1956 under Massachusetts General Laws.
Ralph J. Froio Senior Center
Upon completion of the reconstruction and renovation of the former Capitol Theater in 1993, the Council On Aging moved from Bradford Street to 330 North Street. The City of Pittsfield renamed and dedicated the building “The Ralph J. Froio Senior Center “ in honor of this long time civic leader who spent countless hours in volunteer service to his community, especially in senior citizen’s affairs. Through his many years of service, Ralph J. Froio served as Chairman of the Council On Aging as well as for countless other charitable organizations and causes.
The Center is a handicapped accessible facility in downtown Pittsfield that is accessible by bus and within walking distance of several housing projects.
The facility is 15,000 square feet in total area and consists of four floors.
