Building Inspections Department

The Commonwealth of Massachusetts is well-known for its commitment to the wellbeing and safety of its citizens through adoption of some of the most comprehensive public safety regulations and codes in the nation.

This office is charged with the responsibility of ensuring the public safety in its areas of jurisdiction by enforcement of those regulations.

In order to ensure that every citizen is treated fairly, the Building Officials strive to apply the regulations of the State Building Code, Electrical, Plumbing and Gas Codes, the City Zoning Ordinance, and the City Sign Ordinance, evenhandedly and fairly so that all citizens can enjoy the protections intended by our legislators.
