PAPER ART & PAPER AIRPLANES
This 3rd.Thursdays, we’ve teamed up with the Upper Housatonic Heritage organization to highlight the history and creativity of papermaking in the Berkshires. At the Lichtenstein Center for the Arts, celebrate the kickoff of Housatonic Paper Trail at the opening reception for the Paper Work group show. Curated by Lauren Clark, the exhibit features work by regional artists who work with or on paper. Artists whose works are on display include Molly Bruce Jacobs, Terry Wise, Peter Dellert, Phil Bastow, Eric Drury, and Lisa Griffith.
The gallery is also hosting an exciting and dynamic paper airplane contest on Dunham Mall – with prizes for the most creative, furthest-flying, and most hang-time! The judge, Howard Fink, is a pro-paper folding guru – so aim high with those paper planes!
At the Storefront Artist Project between 6pm – 8pm, Bill Wright presents Paper Makers, his photography of local men and women who still work in local paper mills.
At the Berkshire Museum, the Wider Window Gallery has been transformed with Henry Klimowicz’s Paper and Light, a site-specific installation composed of disused cardboard that has been carefully arranged and re-configured. While at the museum, don’t forget to check out all the historical artifacts from the museum and the Crane Museum of Papermaking. The Berkshire Museum has extended hours every 3rd Thursday, with free admission for members and Berkshire County residents.
