ARTSCAPE Public Art in Downtown Pittsfield 2011 Exhibition
Artscape is a volunteer-led committee in the city of Pittsfield that sponsors an annual outdoor juried exhibition of public art. Artscape’s mission is to enhance the downtown’s character and attract visitors by installing and promoting works of art in various outdoor locations throughout the downtown.
Artscape was also a lead organizer of the 2004 Sheeptacular public art project, as well as the 2006-2007 Art Of The Game public art project that brings art and baseball together in unexpected ways.
Artscape Walking Tour
Artscape invites people of all ages to explore the variety of public art in downtown Pittsfield with artist, educator Craig Langlois from Berkshire Museum.
Langlois will guide participants on their walk through historic downtown Pittsfield to discover some of the nearly 50 pieces of public art including sculptures, mixed media installations, and murals in the downtown area.
Artscape’s Walking Tours are: October 9 and (rain date October 10) October 23 (rain date October 24).
All tours begin at 1 pm. The tours will start and end at the Pittsfield Visitors’ Center on North Street (Route 7) in Pittsfield, next to The Colonial Theatre.
