Call For Art: 4th Annual Pittsfield Contemporary Show

CALL FOR ART: 4^th Annual Pittsfield Contemporary Show: A juried show of contemporary artwork from local Pittsfield artists at the Lichtenstein Center for the Arts

The Lichtenstein Center for the Arts, downtown Pittsfield’s community arts center, has issued a call for artwork for the fourth annual juried exhibit of contemporary art by artists living or working in Pittsfield, entitled Pittsfield Contemporary. For the first time this year the show includes a theme, in conjunction with the 3^rd annual WordXWord Festival, a celebration of words spoken, written and sung in downtown Pittsfield, August 13-20, 2011. Artists are asked to submit works that incorporate images and themes of language, text and words. Group submissions and exterior installations are accepted. New, innovative, out-of-the-box artwork is encouraged. The deadline for submission was Monday, May 23^rd at 5pm, but it has been extended until Monday, June 6th at 5pm! Artists must live in or have a working artist studio in the city of Pittsfield, Massachusetts.

The exhibit is sponsored by the City of Pittsfield Office of Cultural Development, PittsfieldContemporary.com, and the Word X Word Festival and will open on Friday, July 22^nd, 2011.

There is no fee to apply for the exhibit and artists must submit an application form, bio, and digital images (jpeg) of their work on a CD. Slides or printed copies will not be considered. Each artist is allowed to submit up to six images of their work for consideration. Applications must be mailed or hand delivered to the Lichtenstein Center for the Arts at 28 Renne Avenue, Pittsfield, MA 01201 by Monday, May 23^rd at 5pm. Notification of the jurors’ decision will be sent out by email by Friday, June 10^th. All artists must provide an email address or acceptable substitute.

Yes, YOU!
