Get creative in 2012 at the Lichtenstein!

All of the classes listed below are being held at the Lichtenstein Center for the Arts in downtown Pittsfield. We welcome class and workshop proposals from teaching artists in the performining, visual, literary and new media fields as well!
All classes located at: Lichtenstein Center for the Arts | 28 Renne Ave | 499-9348 | downtown Pittsfield | FREE parking available across the street on evenings and weekends.

 Weekly Afro-Cuban Drumming Class with Aimee Gelinas

Every Monday evening the Lichtenstein Center for the Arts fills with lots of education and rhythm.  Aimee Gelinas teaches expert Afro-Cuban drum beats.  Drums are available to borrow. Youth classes begin at 6 and Adult classes start at 7. To register, contact Aimee at aimee@gaiaroots.com

A new session of Jim Horsford’s very popular wheel throwing pottery classes is going to begin Tuesday March 20 or Thursday March 22! This 6 week session includes 12 hours of instruction on the potter's wheel, plus glazing!  One 2-hour class per week. Hip Hop Classes

Hip hop dance class with instructor Joshua "Butta" McHugh wha has been a hip hop dancer for 12 years. He recieved a scholarship for Jacob's Pillow with Rennie Harris in the summer of 2009. He has taught classes at Berkshire Albany Ballet in Pittsfield 2009, Taconic high school in 2010, and Bebe Theater in Asheville nc 2011. Also a performer of the Bonnaroo music festival in tennesee on the solar stage. This class will consist of B-boying "breakdance" and will introduce other hip hop styles such as Poppin, Locking, House, Freestyle ages 8 and up

Watercolor Studio In Pittsfield

This class is for the student who would like to learn more about the various approaches to the medium or who have taken beginning watercolor. Demonstrations will be given each week, showing students how to paint wet-on-wet washes, dry-on-wet washes and with a dry brush. Color theory and use of color to create shadow and light will be practiced as well, class taught by June Ferrin. Jazz Jam!

On the third Sunday of each month, musicians gather at the Lichtenstein gallery to jam and play their favorite jazz tunes.  Anyone is welcome to the join the Jazz Jam, or just to come and listen.
