Education
Welcome to the Education homepage for the city of Pittsfield. As superintendent of the Pittsfield Public Schools, I’m proud to say that we have a long history of preparing Pittsfield’s children to succeed; whether they choose to move on to an Ivy League school, a top-notch state college, or graduate well-prepared to move immediately into the workforce.
Pittsfield Public Schools college preparatory curriculum, along with our vocational program, share outstanding reputations statewide for producing the finest students and workers. We are working hard to continue that fine tradition by incorporating the newest technologies into our curriculum, highlighted by the groundbreaking Berkshire Wireless Learning Initiative, which has been implemented in our middle schools, and will help shape how children are educated into the future – in Massachusetts, across the country, and throughout the world.
Pittsfield is the home of the largest and most technologically-advanced library in the county, the Berkshire Athenaeum, which holds more than 180,000 volumes; it also serves as a wireless Internet hotspot, where our students and members of the public have free access to the boundless information in cyberspace. The Athenaeum is also the host of the Berkshire Funding Resource Center, an extremely valuable grant-seeking tool for the multitude of non-profit organizations throughout Berkshire County.
The quality of Pittsfield’s educational experience is enriched by the diversity of educational choices in Pittsfield, ranging from our partners in grade school education, including the internationally-recognized institution, Miss Hall’s School, higher education, and workforce training programs.
I invite you to browse through all that our city offers, including, but not limited to, our fine educational institutions.
